I didn't just get the contour palette. I also purchased the High Definition Pressed Powder. This was the first product that caught my attention because look at that packaging!
I read a couple of reviews from other Instagram users so I kind of knew what to expect. I know I already mentioned the packaging...but LOOK AT IT.
This was definitely the main reason I added this little compact to my cart. Unlike other HD powders, this one is pressed (as opposed to loose). For this reason, it's not as fine as others on the market. Even so, it still provides the kind of skin perfecting benefits you're looking for. For me, it won't replace my loose HD powder, but it's awesome for touch ups. That's not to say that you can't use it in place of loose powder. It does reduce shine, but I find my skin isn't matte all day. However, my skin is moderately oily so no powders give me an all day matte finish. That being said, this is definitely a product I will rebuy. I think it's a fair price compared to high-end loose HD powders. And I would pay $20 just for that packaging all day. The outside features a mirror so as long as you carry a brush or sponge with you, you can use it as needed to powder your nose on the go!
Another packaging win, I grabbed one of their Apocalipsticks. I chose the shade "AK-47" because I wanted to make sure I'd get something I could wear every day. Nudes always win with me.

This lipstick has good wear, about the same as any other matte lipstick. It's not all day like a liquid to matte, but it stays well. The lipstick is super pigmented; I get full color in just one swipe.
The formula is creamy and comfortable. They have no scent, but that's okay because the packaging is AMAZING!!! The matte black plastic bullet is super awesome. For $15, it's a great deal.
And now...let's talk about this contour palette. This guy has awesome packaging, but unlike the HD powder and lipstick, I didn't buy this for the packaging. I bought this specifically for what's inside.
This palette has twelve shades to offer. The way I see it, you're given six for contouring (#4, #7, #10, #6, #9, #12) two for highlighting (#1, #3) and four blushes (#2, #5, #8, #11). Of the six contour shades, three are purple and three are brown. We have a white highlighting powder, and a yellow one. The blushes are unique from each other and range from light pink to a rich beige pink.
The whole concept of contouring is to create shadows to give your face more depth and definition. If you're using warm shades to do this, you'll end up with a sun-kissed look rather than a defined one. This is true no matter your skin tone. So these cool violet hues are perfect. But, you're also given some warmer shades. I like to create the illusion of a smaller forehead and camouflage my double chin (no shame) with something a little warmer. This helps brighten my complexion and add some color to my pale face.

I can highlight and contour with all the shades in this palette. Even the darker shades are user friendly. I typically use all three purples and two of the browns. I start with #4 (light cool) below my cheek bones and down the sides of my nose. This creates a "base" contour so I don't go overboard when I go back in with the deeper shades. I use #10 (dark cool) or #12 (dark brown) closest to my ears (at the "top" of my contour) and blend it towards the center of my face with #7 (medium cool). I go over the #4 on my nose with #6 (light brown). I also use #6 along the sides of my face, from my temples down to my jawline. I like to use a light contour around my face so my cheek contour doesn't look it's coming from nowhere. You want to create a seamless contoured look. To create the illusion of a smaller forehead, I use #9 (brown) with a light hand and blend this downward towards my brows and into the #6 along my temples. I also use #9 under my chin and along my jawline. Again, I blend the hell out of it so I have a seamless look. It's important to really blend your contour so you don't have any harsh lines. You want it to be as subtle and natural looking as possible while still giving you the definition you want. See why contouring is so difficult?
I use #1 (white) on the low center of my forehead (between and just above my brows) and down the bridge of my nose and on the center of my chin to brighten the center of my face. You can also use this (or any other highlighting powder) below your cheek contour to blend out any harshness. Shade #3 (cream yellow) goes under my eyes to help correct dark circles. I apply it in an upside down triangle so it looks more natural. This yellow is light enough to also act as a highlighter, giving you the look of higher cheek bones. I apply blush between the contour and highlight, starting from the outside and blending towards the center of my face.
So that's how I use the palette. But what do I think? I think this palette is awesome. I am able to use every single shade in different combinations and still end up with the results I want. The only downside: I don't think this palette is a win for every skin tone. I am mega pale (MAC NC15) so this is my holy grail contour kit. For darker complexions, these shades may not show up so well. The white and yellow highlight shades in this palette actually show up on my fair skin. The Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour kit has been my go-to but even the lightest shade (Vanilla) is a perfect match to my skin, meaning it doesn't work for me as a highlight. ABH Banana is still a great yellow shade for under the eyes, but it doesn't brighten and highlight the way the Cream Yellow from Lunatick does. I admit, Luatick's Cream Yellow is almost too light if applied too heavily, so I go over it with a little Banana from ABH. Luckily, the Lunatick contour palette features super silky powders that blend like a dream. They aren't crazy pigmented, which is a good thing. You don't want contour powders to be highly pigmented because you need a subtle application. What's great is you have the option for build-able coverage. Basically, I think this palette can replace my ABH powder contour kit. The only reason I'll still hang on to my ABH kit is: Lunatick doesn't offer replacement pans at this time. BUT...the pans are 100% removable (for use in a Z Palette, etc) so I'm hopeful that Lunatick will offer refill pans in the future! You can build your own eyeshadow palette online, so maybe a DIY contour palette is on the books.
As much as I love this palette, I wouldn't recommend it for someone who is new to contouring. The shades are beautiful, but if you don't know what you're doing, you could end up looking like you got in a fight. Contouring with brown shades can leave your face looking dirty if you're not careful, likewise this palette can leave you looking bruised. I'm not an expert by any means, but I would consider my makeup skills to be advanced. Even I had to take care in getting used to this palette. The first time I used it, I wasn't sure how to feel about it. But after a solid week of daily use, I decided I can't live without it.
Overall, I really do think $74 is worth it. This contour palette is unlike any other I've seen on the market. It has twelve 4g pans, making each pan worth $6.16, compared to ABH at $6.67 when purchased in the kit (or $14 per pan when you buy refills). And much less than the Kat Von D contour kit at $7.67 per pan (two different pan sizes in this kit technically would render two price points, but for simple math's sake, this is what we're seeing!). The shades are unique and the packaging is original and appealing. If you've been thinking of splurging, think no more. I got lucky and bought it after Lunatick posted a coupon code on their Instagram. Maybe you'll get lucky and snag some savings yourself.
This brand has won me over entirely. Their products are top quality and beautifully packaged. Plus, they're vegan and cruelty free. The only thing stopping you from placing your Lunatick order right now is YOU!
Go CRAZY my pretties!
